Afreenergy Solar Acquires GreenYellow’s Photovoltaic Assets in Senegal

This transaction marks a significant milestone in Afreenergy’s growth as it continues to structure and develop its operations to become a leading independent renewable energy producer in Africa.

Afreenergy Solar, a subsidiary of the independent renewable energy producer Afreenergy, announced on July 19th the signing of an agreement to acquire a portfolio of photovoltaic assets in Senegal from GreenYellow, a major player in decentralized energy transition.

The acquisition encompasses all of GreenYellow’s shares in Senegal, comprising three operational rooftop solar power plants with a total consolidated capacity of 2.6 MWp. These plants are designed to meet the electricity needs of commercial and industrial (C&I) customers through self-consumption.

“This acquisition strengthens our presence in a strategic country like Senegal, where we are witnessing significant momentum towards renewable energy, particularly solar power,” emphasized Christian Cachat, Director of Afreenergy Solar. “This is a trend we want to support through partnerships with local players to ensure that as many people as possible have access to clean and affordable energy.”
