Tesla has reached a significant achievement by producing its 10 millionth drive unit. This milestone was proudly shared by the electric vehicle manufacturer through a post on the social media platform X.
Celebration with the Drive Unit Team
The announcement included a photo posted on Tesla’s official X account, showcasing the drive unit team celebrating with the 10 millionth drive unit.
While Tesla did not specify the exact location of the production, it is speculated that the unit was manufactured in Giga Shanghai.
Elon Musk’s Congratulations
Tesla CEO Elon Musk extended his congratulations to the drive unit team with a post on X. “Congrats to the Tesla drivetrain team!” Musk wrote, recognizing the team’s hard work and dedication.
Production Milestone Context
This milestone follows closely behind another significant achievement. Less than two months prior, Tesla announced that Giga Nevada had produced its five millionth drive unit. This suggests that Giga Nevada plays a crucial role in Tesla’s production, supplying drive units primarily to the Fremont Factory.
Q2 2024 Vehicle Deliveries
Shortly after Giga Nevada’s milestone, Tesla released its Q2 2024 vehicle delivery and production report. The company reported delivering 443,956 vehicles in the second quarter, pushing the total number of delivered vehicles past six million since the original Tesla Roadster deliveries began in early 2008.
Dominance of Model 3 and Model Y
The bulk of Tesla’s current vehicle deliveries consists of the Model 3 sedan and the Model Y crossover. Both models are available in single-motor and dual-motor variants. This 10 million drive unit milestone is expected to significantly boost Tesla’s capacity to expand its global vehicle fleet even further.
