Acteon Secures Contract for Structural Monitoring of Taiwanese Offshore Wind Farms

Pulse Structural Monitoring, a brand within Acteon’s marine energy and infrastructure services division, has been awarded a contract by Ørsted Taiwan Ltd. for the design, engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning of measurement and data acquisition systems for the Greater Changhua 2b and 4 offshore wind farms.

The Greater Changhua 2b and 4 wind farms, situated 35 and 60 km off the Changhua coast of Taiwan, are expected to have a combined power generation capacity of 920 MW upon completion by the end of 2025.

As part of Acteon’s Geo-services business line, Pulse specializes in project-based systems integration and software development. The work for this project will be carried out at the state-of-the-art Pulse Technology Centre in Wokingham, UK, while the installation will take place in construction yards in South Korea and Taiwan.

“The Greater Changhua 2b and 4 contract marks a significant milestone in the development of Pulse’s capabilities to support the global offshore wind industry. This includes campaigns to measure various parameters such as environmental conditions, metocean data, settlement, load and acceleration, corrosion, and anode efficiency.

All our installations are based on the open framework NX2 digital platform, which integrates synchronous data acquisition from sensors to desktops. This will further enable Acteon to play a crucial role in assisting clients in their journey towards net zero,” stated Paul Smith, Executive Vice President of Acteon’s Geo-services business line.
