Airtel Africa, a prominent telecommunications provider across 14 African markets, has chosen digital payment solutions provider Network International as its payment processor.
Network International will manage financial transactions related to Airtel Africa’s mobile services and support the launch of new products in key markets.
Enhancing Customer Experience and Financial Inclusion
Network International will leverage its expertise and technical support to deploy a comprehensive suite of services for Airtel Africa. These services include card issuance, transaction processing, card hosting and management, online fraud prevention, internal reconciliation, and settlement.
“This collaboration will enable us to deliver a superior customer experience and drive digital financial inclusion across Africa,” said Ian Ferrao, Group CEO of Airtel Money at Airtel Africa. “Network International’s proven track record and deep understanding of the African market will allow us to innovate and scale our services more effectively.”
Expanding Mobile Financial Services
The partnership is expected to strengthen Airtel Africa’s mobile financial services. The company plans to launch its Airtel Money platform in new markets as part of its mobile money branch’s initial public offering (IPO) planned for 2025. As of March 31, 2024, Airtel Africa reported 38 million mobile money subscribers.

Airtel Africa operates in 14 African markets, providing mobile phone, internet, SMS, and mobile money services. As of March 31, 2023, the company boasted a total of 152.7 million customers. This collaboration with Network International reinforces Airtel Africa’s commitment to delivering innovative and reliable financial services to its vast customer base.
