TÜV Rheinland, a global leader in independent technical services, has granted its inaugural pre-certification in India to Avaada Group for the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia in Gopalpur, Odisha.
This project, with a production capacity of 0.5 MMTPA of green ammonia, aims to meet both domestic and international market demands.

Avaada Group has achieved a milestone by obtaining India’s first pre-certification for green hydrogen from TÜV Rheinland.
This recognition supports the company’s ambitious green hydrogen and ammonia project in Gopalpur, Odisha, which boasts a production capacity of 0.5 MMTPA. Avaada has also raised $1.07 billion to fund its green hydrogen and ammonia initiatives in India.

The Avaada project underwent thorough evaluation to ensure it meets design, production, storage, and transportation standards.
TÜV Rheinland’s pre-certification for renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO) under the European Union’s RED II directive confirms the project’s adherence to international standards.
This certification validates that Avaada’s hydrogen and ammonia production has lower greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional fuels, aligning with European requirements.

The TÜV Rheinland H2.21 RED II standard for hydrogen covers green, blue, turquoise, and carbon-neutral categories, allowing clients to verify multiple climate aspects with a single certification.
