Baker Hughes Inks 10-Year Deal to Support Woodside Energy’s Australian LNG Operations

Baker Hughes has solidified its commitment to Woodside Energy’s Australian liquefied natural gas (LNG) operations by entering into a new 10-year services frame agreement.

This agreement aims to bolster Woodside’s LNG capabilities through comprehensive maintenance, upgrades, and innovative digital solutions.

Under this multi-year agreement, Baker Hughes will provide a range of essential services, including spare parts, field service resources for on-site turbomachinery equipment maintenance and upgrades, equipment refurbishment, and advanced digital asset performance services.

This latest agreement reinforces the strategic partnership between Baker Hughes and Woodside Energy in the LNG sector, a collaboration that dates back to 1989 and has encompassed numerous successful projects.

In 2021, Baker Hughes was entrusted with the supply of high-efficiency gas turbine and compressor technology for Woodside Energy’s Pluto LNG train 2 project in Western Australia. This project plays a crucial role in Woodside’s Scarborough offshore gas project, facilitating LNG exports to various countries across Asia.

In 2022, the two companies further deepened their collaboration by signing a memorandum of understanding to explore potential decarbonization solutions. This initiative leverages Baker Hughes’ extensive portfolio of carbon management and climate technology solutions to advance sustainable practices in the LNG industry.

Tiffany Pitts, vice president of Gas Technology Services at Baker Hughes, emphasized the importance of continuous innovation and enhancements in LNG technology solutions for Woodside Energy, given the critical role of LNG in global energy security.

Pitts highlighted the need to proactively address safety and efficiency while investing in asset health management to drive more intelligent operations in the LNG sector. Baker Hughes reaffirms its commitment to supporting Woodside Energy and anticipates continued collaboration in the years to come.
