The retailer Casino and the energy giant TotalEnergies have reached a new agreement to extend their partnership for supplying a thousand fuel stations across France, the two companies announced in a joint statement on Thursday.
Expanding Supply to Stations
This collaboration will enable Casino to supply consumer products to “over 1,000 fuel stations in France,” including “nearly 140” on highways and “approximately 860 TotalEnergies stations operated as franchises or lease-managed,” as detailed in the statement.
The agreement will commence on October 1, 2024, and will be in force “for a period of 5 years.”
Commitment to Quality Service
“The renewal of this partnership with TotalEnergies perfectly reflects the Casino group’s priorities: to provide our partners with impeccable service quality, leveraging our logistical agility and the excellence of our product offerings,” stated Philippe Palazzi, CEO of the Casino group, quoted in the announcement.
Presence Beyond TotalEnergies
In addition to TotalEnergies stations, Casino also has a smaller presence in Shell, Avia, and ENI stations, bringing the total number of fuel stations where the group is involved to over 1,300.
This renewal of a partnership that has lasted more than 20 years between Casino and TotalEnergies comes in a competitive environment for retailers in the fuel station market.
Competitive Market Context
In early July, retail giant Carrefour announced it had secured two tenders with Shell and TotalEnergies to supply consumer products to 117 fuel stations “primarily located on highways,” significantly increasing its presence in this sector.
