Situated in the Beibu Gulf of the South China Sea, the Wushi 23-5 oil field rests at an average water depth of approximately 28 meters. The main production infrastructure encompasses two newly constructed wellhead platforms and the refurbished Wushi terminal.
Production Capacity and Development Wells
The project’s development plan includes bringing 43 wells online, consisting of 28 oil production wells and 15 water-injection wells. Peak production is projected to reach around 18,100 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed) by 2026, with the extracted oil being classified as light crude.
CNOOC has prioritized environmental considerations in the development of Wushi 23-5, implementing efficient and low-carbon practices throughout the entire design, construction, and production processes.
Pioneering Onshore Power Supply
This oil field is the first of its kind in the South China Sea to be supplied with power from onshore sources, marking a significant step towards reducing the project’s carbon footprint.
The project incorporates integrated natural gas treatment to ensure full-process recovery and utilization of associated gas, further enhancing its environmental performance.
Advancing Green and Low-Carbon Initiatives
The successful commissioning of the Wushi 23-5 oil field represents a significant milestone for CNOOC Limited, furthering its commitment to green and low-carbon development within the energy sector.
CNOOC Limited holds 100% interest in the Wushi 23-5 oil field project and serves as the operator, demonstrating its full ownership and control of the venture.
