Ekwil: New Joint Venture Powers the Future of Floating Offshore Wind

SBM Offshore and Technip Energies have announced the formation of Ekwil, a 50/50 joint venture focused on floating offshore wind (FOW).

Ekwil offers a diverse range of “series production” FOW solutions to meet the growing needs of energy customers worldwide, combining the Semi-submersible INO15 and Tension Leg Platform Float4Wind technologies.

Headquartered in France, Ekwil brings together a team of 40 specialists and leverages the resources of both SBM Offshore and Technip Energies.

Led by Séverine Baudic, former Managing Director of New Energies & Services at SBM Offshore, and Willy Gauttier, former Vice President of Floating Offshore Wind at Technip Energies, Ekwil aims to become a major player in the FOW market.

This joint venture is structured to deliver reliable and efficient solutions, accelerating the deployment of floating offshore wind through serial production and advanced technical expertise.

The Semi-submersible INO15 technology from Technip Energies and the Tension Leg Platform Float4Wind from SBM Offshore enable Ekwil to cover a broad spectrum of the FOW market.

These innovations offer economies of scale and reduced deployment times, making FOW solutions more competitive.

The combined expertise of the two companies allows Ekwil to meet market demands with optimized and reliable solutions, strengthening its position in the global floating offshore wind market.

Ekwil plans to capitalize on the growth of the floating offshore wind market, particularly in Europe, Asia, and North America.

The company’s technologies are designed to meet the specific needs of these regions, ensuring effective market penetration.

The joint venture structure allows for increased agility in project execution, offering customers robust and economically viable FOW solutions.

Séverine Baudic and Willy Gauttier, as CEO and COO respectively, bring significant experience and strategic vision to Ekwil.

Their leadership is essential to guide the company in a rapidly evolving market, ensuring efficient execution and sustainable growth. The growth prospects for Ekwil are bolstered by the increasing demand for floating offshore wind solutions, and the company is well-positioned to capture a significant share of this market.
