New Solar Plant Breaks Ground
Independent power producer Engie has commenced construction on the Grootspruit photovoltaic solar plant, a 75 MW facility to be operated in partnership with Pele Green Energy. This development was reported on July 18th by Engineeringnews.
Part of REIPPPP Bid Window 5
Situated in the Free State province, Grootspruit is one of two photovoltaic plants being developed by Engie as part of the fifth bid window of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP).

Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions
This Engie project, along with another under construction in the Northern Cape of South Africa, is projected to reduce the country’s greenhouse gas emissions by 100,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.
