Italian oil major Eni and its partners are actively working towards the completion of Phase II of the Baleine oil project in Côte d’Ivoire. This phase is expected to significantly boost the volume of crude oil extracted from the site.
Major Milestone: Construction of Key Infrastructure
On Wednesday, July 24th, Eni announced a major milestone in the development of Baleine Phase II: the completion of construction for two critical pieces of infrastructure.
FPSO and FSO to Increase Production
These completed structures include a Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) unit and a Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) platform. Both are designed to increase production from what is currently the largest hydrocarbon field in the country.
Production Target Increase by December 2024
With these key installations soon to arrive in Ivorian waters, Eni aims to raise the total production from the Baleine field to a plateau of 60,000 barrels per day (bpd) and approximately 70 million cubic feet of associated gas by December 2024. This is a significant increase from the current production of around 30,000 bpd.
Long-Term Production Goals
Eni’s ultimate goal is to reach a daily production level of 200,000 barrels. This prospect would strengthen Côte d’Ivoire’s position in the regional and international energy landscape.
Subsea Infrastructure Construction Underway
In late April, AGL and SAIPEM initiated the construction of subsea infrastructure as part of Baleine Phase II, further advancing the project’s development.
