4.5 GW of New Solar & Storage: Entergy & NextEra Energy Join Forces

Entergy (NYSE: ETR) and NextEra Energy Resources LLC, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Inc. (NYSE: NEE), announced a joint development agreement on June 7th.

This agreement aims to expedite the development of up to 4.5 gigawatts (GW) of new solar generation and energy storage projects. This collaboration signifies substantial progress in expanding Entergy’s renewable energy portfolio.

“We are thrilled about this joint development agreement, which will enable Entergy to provide our customers with low-cost, renewable energy as demand increases across Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas,” stated Rod West, group president of utility operations for Entergy.

Rebecca Kujawa, president and CEO of NextEra Energy Resources, said, “We believe the power sector is at a turning point, and low-cost, renewable generation and storage will meet growing electricity demand. We are pleased to reach this agreement as it further strengthens our longstanding collaboration with Entergy and adds up to 4.5 GW to the more than 1.7 GW of renewable energy projects already in progress.”

The five-year joint development agreement aims to facilitate the development and construction of new solar generation and energy storage projects. This partnership demonstrates a shared commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
