Equans Expands UK Solar Energy Footprint in Collaboration with Low Carbon

Equans, through its newly established Equans Solar & Storage subsidiary, has secured a contract with global renewable energy leader Low Carbon to design and construct six large-scale solar farms across the UK. Four of these innovative projects will incorporate battery energy storage solutions (BESS) to enhance grid reliability and resilience.

These solar sites will boast a combined capacity of 267 MWp (megawatt-peak), with the BESS portfolio contributing a total capacity of 95 MW/190 MWh.

This substantial capacity increase will not only power over 100,000 homes with clean, renewable electricity but also feed directly into the local distribution network.

This new venture builds upon a decade-long partnership between Equans and Low Carbon. Equans has previously delivered four solar sites for Low Carbon and is currently working on an additional nine large-scale solar farm projects, many of which are nearing completion.

Once operational, the six new solar farms are projected to reduce CO2e emissions by approximately 200,000 tons annually. This significant contribution to decarbonization aligns with the UK’s ambitious net-zero goals and demonstrates a commitment to a more sustainable energy future.

Equans is dedicated to delivering high-performing solar farms within budget and on schedule, ensuring that client expectations are not only met but exceeded.

The company emphasizes the importance of strong partnerships in accelerating the energy transition and views its ongoing collaboration with Low Carbon as a key component in driving this transformation.

Low Carbon shares Equans’ commitment to renewable energy expansion. They recognize the essential role that Equans plays in delivering critical clean energy infrastructure that directly supports the UK government’s decarbonization targets. The collaboration between these two industry leaders exemplifies a unified effort to address the challenges of climate change through innovative and sustainable energy solutions.

This latest agreement not only signifies the ongoing expansion of renewable energy infrastructure in the UK but also reinforces the strong partnership between Equans and Low Carbon. With a shared commitment to a decarbonized energy sector, the two companies are poised to continue their impactful work towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.
