Infinity Power and the Sierra Leonean government, through the Ministry of Energy, have formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at developing 1 GW of renewable energy capacity in the country by 2033.
The MoU emphasizes a phased approach, prioritizing the expansion of Sierra Leone’s power generation and distribution infrastructure.
Commitment to Sustainable Development
The signing ceremony, conducted at State House in Freetown, signifies a crucial step towards Sierra Leone’s dedication to sustainable energy and economic advancement.
The project aims to enhance energy accessibility, stimulate job creation, and support the country’s environmental objectives.
Project Scope and Collaboration
Infinity Power will work closely with the Ministry of Energy to execute feasibility studies, acquire necessary permits, and finalize power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA).
This collaborative effort involves the development of 200 MW of renewable energy generation, including the expansion of hydroelectric dam capacity and the installation of both floating and ground-mounted solar PV systems.
