Ivory Coast : NSIA Bank CI supports the “Agro-Bachelor” training initiative

The “Agro-Bachelor” training project aims to provide quality education to young Ivorians in agriculture, agribusiness, and related services.

This new partnership further strengthens NSIA Bank CI’s support for the agricultural sector.

On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, the Centre for Research and Action for Peace, Jesuit University (CERAP/UJ), and the PURPAN School of Engineers in Toulouse (INP) signed the agreement for the co-construction of a double degree program named “Agro-Bachelor.”

His Excellency Jean-Christophe Belliard, French Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, partners such as Club Agro-Côte d’Ivoire and NSIA Bank Côte d’Ivoire, as well as a delegation from both parties, attended this ceremony held at CERAP’s premises in Abidjan.

The “Agro-Bachelor” project offers a three-year post-secondary curriculum in Sciences and Engineering, focusing on sustainable agricultural and agro-industrial fields.

The training program aims to professionalize students while developing concepts of alternation and direct involvement in agriculture, agribusiness, and associated services. Held on the CERAP campus, this training is open to both Ivorian and international students starting from the 2024/2025 academic year.

For the two partner institutions, the goal is twofold: to provide quality education to young people and to contribute to reducing food insecurity in Côte d’Ivoire.

Jean-Marie Gnéblé, Director of Human Resources at NSIA Bank CI, highlighted the major interest of this project for the Ivorian labor market, calling it “undeniably” relevant.

Agriculture, a pillar of the Ivorian economy, accounts for about 30% of the GDP and employs 45% of the workforce. As part of its sustainable development strategy, the Ivorian government promotes continuous training for agricultural professionals.

Institutions such as the National Institute for Agricultural Vocational Training (INFPA) and the Higher School of Agriculture (ESA) of INP-HB offer programs to update the skills and knowledge of sector stakeholders.

Through this partnership, NSIA Bank Côte d’Ivoire further reinforces its commitment to providing specific support to several key sectors of the Ivorian economy, including education, agriculture, health, and real estate.

The bank has been recognized for its involvement with distinctions such as the Excellence Award for the “best employment provider” in 2021 and the Excellence Award for the “Best financial sector institution” in 2018.
