Kia America Hits Record EV Sales in 2024: 112% Growth in First Half

Kia America achieved its highest first-half EV sales in the company’s history, also marking the second-best first-half for overall sales.

The brand’s top-selling models in the first half of 2024 were the Sportage SUV and Forte sedan.

Kia America has sold over 5,000 all-electric vehicles for three consecutive months, totaling 29,392 EVs in the first half of the year. This impressive performance represents a 112% increase year-over-year, demonstrating a robust momentum for Kia’s EV sales growth.

Four Kia models, the Carnival (+18%), Forte (+13%), Sportage (+11%), and Seltos (+1%), set new first-half sales records, further solidifying the brand’s diverse lineup.

“Kia’s leadership as a sustainable mobility solutions provider and our expanding selection of hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric utility vehicles are delivering one of the most balanced lineups in the industry,” remarked Eric Watson, vice president of sales operations at Kia America.

“With the imminent arrival of the first-ever hybrid Carnival MPV and a growing supply of the updated K5 sedan, Kia continues to provide customers with award-winning choices. We anticipate consumer demand and Kia showroom traffic to further escalate during the second half of the year.”

Beyond its monthly sales achievements, Kia America has announced several noteworthy initiatives:

  • Electrify Expo Participation: Kia showcased its all-electric EV6 and EV9 models at Electrify Expo Long Beach, offering attendees a ride-and-drive experience to test these vehicles firsthand.
  • IONNA Headquarters Selection: Durham, North Carolina, was chosen as the headquarters for IONNA, the charging network established by a consortium of leading global automakers, including Kia, BMW, GM, Honda, Hyundai, MB, and Stellantis.
