Agriculture Minister Mohammed Sadiki, accompanied by officials and dignitaries, embarked on a field visit to the Agadir Ida Outanane prefecture in the Souss-Massa region.
In the Imsouane commune, Minister Sadiki examined solidarity farming initiatives, notably a poultry farming project. This project, backed by a group of six cooperatives, received an investment of over 6.4 million dirhams.
Key project goals include:
- Diversifying activities for the cooperative group, known for argan oil production
- Increasing rural women’s income from 8,400 to 14,400 dirhams
- Creating 1,800 additional workdays
The project involves setting up two poultry farms, acquiring chicks and feed, providing technical assistance, and obtaining certification for the “Poulet fermier” agricultural label.
Hydraulic Development in Mountainous Areas
Minister Sadiki’s tour continued to the Aourir commune, where he inspected hydraulic development works in the Aqesri, Ameskroud, and Aourir areas.
Funded with 2.3 million dirhams through the Padidzar program, this project covers 104 hectares and benefits over 1,560 farmers. The aim is to enhance irrigation efficiency and agricultural income, focusing on crops like bananas, palm trees, olive trees, and carob trees.
Promoting Local Products
Finally, Minister Sadiki explored the potential of local products in the region. He visited two units processing argan oil and almonds in the Aourir and Idmine communes, and distributed technical equipment to local women’s cooperatives.
With a total funding of 1.92 million dirhams, this project supports 42 rural women, including 15 young women. The objectives are to create jobs, improve incomes and working conditions for rural women, promote local products, and enhance product quality.
