Pioneer Power’s e-Boost EV Bus Chargers Score $5 Million Deal with Major U.S. Transit Authority

Pioneer Power Solutions, a leader in electrical power systems and EV charging, announced a significant order worth over $5 million for its e-Boost mobile EV charging solutions.

The order comes from a major U.S. metro transit authority, propelling Pioneer’s eMobility business unit beyond its 2024 revenue target of $10 million.

The transit authority, serving one of the largest U.S. metro areas, aims to decarbonize and electrify its bus fleet by 2028. Pioneer eMobility secured the contract due to its focus on sustainability, product mobility, experience, power delivery capacity, lead time, design optimization, and consultative approach.

The contract involves the purchase, installation, and maintenance of four e-Boost Mobile units at two transit depots. These units, each with 240kW of onboard power, will be delivered with six offboard mobile EV chargers. The design allows for relocation during natural disasters like wildfires or floods, ensuring continuous EV charging with 8.4MWh of onboard energy at each site.

“We’re supporting cities in their transition to electric transit buses by providing high-capacity mobile EV charging solutions that prioritize sustainability, affordability, and practicality,” said Geo Murickan, President of Pioneer eMobility.

This order represents one of the first e-Boost units purchased through Sourcewell, a national cooperative connecting government agencies with qualified suppliers. The e-Boost product line is now accessible to all municipal and government agencies through Sourcewell’s partner, INF Associates Energy Solutions.

“The size of this order, along with our promising sales pipeline, demonstrates the traction we’re gaining with e-Boost,” said Nathan Mazurek, CEO of Pioneer. “Transit bus electrification is a top priority, and this project validates the robustness and nationwide potential of e-Boost. As the second transit depot powered by e-Boost in 2024, this highlights a bright future for e-Boost within the U.S. transit industry.”

Pioneer’s ability to maintain critical components in inventory enables fast product deployment, providing a competitive advantage and establishing the company as a reliable partner for customers facing grid challenges.
