ReconAfrica’s Naingopo Exploration Well: Drilling to Commence in Namibia

The relocation of the working camp and drilling rig from the Wisdom Farm 5-1 location is nearing completion.

All operations are expected to be fully functional at the Naingopo well site by the end of the month.

The well remains on schedule for drilling to begin this month, targeting 163 million barrels of unrisked prospective oil resources or 843 billion cubic feet of unrisked prospective natural gas resources, net to ReconAfrica.

Brian Reinsborough, President and CEO of ReconAfrica, stated, “Our operations teams and contractors are diligently finalizing the camp and rig moves this week.

The Jarvie-1 drilling rig has successfully undergone all maintenance and certification processes, and is now en route to the Naingopo location, approximately 80 kilometers away.”

“With the conductor hole already drilled, we anticipate a spud towards the end of the month.

The well will take 90 days to drill, targeting multiple reservoir intervals within the highly prospective Damara Fold Belt.

Additionally, our joint venture process is progressing, and we aim to finalize the transaction before drilling commences at the Naingopo well,” added Reinsborough.

Chris Sembritzky, SVP Exploration, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming spud, stating, “There is immense excitement surrounding the Naingopo exploration well, as it will be the first to test the Damara Fold Belt.

Our team’s comprehensive petroleum systems work over the past six months has bolstered our confidence in discovering hydrocarbons in this initial well.

Should we succeed, we have significant potential for further exploration, with four additional prospects and 20 leads already mapped and defined.”

Nick Steinsberger, SVP Drilling and Completions, confirmed the readiness of the operations team, stating, “We are eager to finalize preparations for the Naingopo well.

Our drilling crews, comprising both Namibian nationals and experienced professionals, many of whom worked on the Jarvie-1 well, are in place. All necessary equipment and services are either on-site or scheduled to arrive within the next two weeks.”
