Royal University for Women (RUW) in Bahrain Unveils Solar Carport Project

The Royal University for Women (RUW), Bahrain’s pioneering private international university, has forged a significant partnership with Positive Zero.

This collaboration aims to establish a solar carport project on the university’s premises, utilizing Positive Zero’s distributed generation arm, SirajPower. This endeavor reinforces the commitment to clean energy cooperation between Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.

The solar carport project, situated in Riffa, Bahrain, boasts a facility with a maximum output of 3.75 MWp. Backed by a 30-year lease agreement with Positive Zero, the project encompasses the design, supply, installation, operation, and maintenance of the solar carport.

This initiative is projected to generate 6.6 GWh of clean energy annually, effectively offsetting over 4,500 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions, equivalent to planting more than 75,000 trees.

The partnership’s inauguration took place at the RUW campus, graced by the presence of distinguished figures.

These included the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, His Excellency Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan; Ali Nematallah Al Nimaa, Vice President of the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA); Dr. Farzana Abdullah Al-Maraghi, Assistant Secretary-General of the Higher Education Council; Professor Riyad Yousef Hamzah, President of the University; and members of the University’s Board of Directors and Trustees.
