Mauritania and Saudi Arabia have entered into an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) to enhance knowledge exchange and collaboration within the clean energy sector, encompassing renewables, green hydrogen, power, and carbon capture technologies.
The Saudi Energy Minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al-Saud, and the Mauritanian Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Energy, Nani Ould Chrougha, signed the agreement during the special session of the World Economic Forum held in Riyadh at the end of April.
The Memorandum of Understanding aims to improve the use of cleaner fossil fuel technologies by integrating state-of-the-art practices to mitigate environmental impacts.
This involves deploying carbon capture, utilisation and storage technologies, as well as enhancing energy efficiency.
It also aims to promote collaborative ventures and encourage the exchange of knowledge and technology in the fields of power and renewable energy such as wind, solar and geothermal energy, driving initiatives in sustainable energy technologies and green hydrogen.
