Schroders Greencoat Expands UK Solar Portfolio with New Acquisition

Schroders Greencoat, the specialized renewables and energy transition infrastructure manager of Schroders Capital, has expanded its UK solar portfolio by acquiring assets from METLEN Energy & Metals (formerly MYTILINEOS), a global industrial and energy company headquartered in Greece.

This acquisition, made on behalf of one of its solar-focused private asset vehicles, fortifies Schroders Greencoat’s standing as the largest manager of operational ground-mounted solar farms in the UK, which now totals roughly 1.9 GWp.

The portfolio includes three operational solar PV assets: Gorse Lane in Lincolnshire, Defford in Worcestershire, and Watnall in Nottinghamshire. Collectively, these assets have a capacity of around 110 MWp, supplying power to approximately 41,300 homes annually.

Lee Moscovitch, Partner at Schroders Greencoat, commented, “We are delighted to integrate these assets into our expanding UK solar portfolio. This acquisition highlights our dedication to providing stable and sustainable returns for our investors. As the renewable energy sector aims to meet the UK Government’s ambitious 2035 solar targets, this deal strengthens our position as a leading player in the industry.”

Earlier this year, Schroders Greencoat also acquired Toucan Energy, the largest operational solar portfolio traded in the UK, reinforcing its leadership in the solar energy sector.

The addition of these solar assets underscores Schroders Greencoat’s commitment to supporting the UK’s renewable energy goals. By investing in solar energy, the company is playing a pivotal role in the transition to a more sustainable energy future.

With this latest acquisition, Schroders Greencoat continues to demonstrate its strategic vision and commitment to growth in the renewable energy sector, ensuring long-term value for its investors and contributing to the broader goal of achieving a greener, more sustainable energy landscape.
