Study Shows Global Wind Power Production is Remarkably Predictable

A recent study conducted by consulting firm Eoltech has shed light on the predictability of global wind power production over the past 15 years. The findings, published recently, suggest that wind power production demonstrates a remarkably high level of predictability, with annual variations remaining within a range of ± 3%.

The study, which evaluated wind resource variations globally, draws its conclusions from the Interstate Renewable Energy Council index, encompassing a significant portion of onshore wind farms installed worldwide by 2023. This comprehensive analysis provides valuable insights into the stability and consistency of wind power production on a global scale.

CEO of Eoltech, Habib Leseney, highlighted the significance of the study’s findings, stating, “Locally, the production of a wind farm can differ significantly from one year to another, up to 25%, due to the variation of the wind resource. But on a larger scale, cumulated production is much more stable.”

This observation underscores the importance of understanding regional variations in wind resources while recognizing the overall stability of wind power production at a global level.
