Subsea7 has been awarded a substantial engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract by bp for the Murlach development in the UK North Sea.
The project, formerly known as the Skua field, is located 240 kilometers east of Aberdeen.
Innovative Subsea Technology for Streamlined Operations
The contract entails the design and installation of subsea pipelines and production systems. Notably, it marks the first deployment of OneSubsea’s standardized vertical monobore tree systems in the region.
This innovative technology is anticipated to optimize the installation process by reducing the reliance on drill rigs, utilizing vessel deployment instead.
The project scope also includes two vertical monobore trees, a 2-slot manifold, and associated topside controls.
Pipeline Installation and Fabrication
Subsea7 will be responsible for installing eight kilometers of rigid flowline and two flexible jumpers, connecting the new flowline to the existing Eastern Trough Area Project (ETAP) facility.
Pipeline fabrication will be carried out at Subsea7’s Vigra spoolbase in Norway, with offshore operations slated for 2025.
Strengthening Collaboration in the UK North Sea
Olivier Blaringhem, CEO of Subsea Integration Alliance, emphasized that this project represents the third fully integrated EPCI project with bp, underscoring their continued collaboration in the UK North Sea market.
Hani El Kurd, senior vice president for Subsea7 UK and Global inspection, repair, and maintenance, reiterated the contract’s significance in highlighting Subsea Integration Alliance’s strong track record in delivering comprehensive subsea systems and their ongoing partnership with bp.
