Tata Power Achieves Major Milestone with Over 100,000 Rooftop Solar Installations in India

Tata Power has proudly surpassed 100,000 rooftop solar installations across India. This significant achievement includes 33,000 installations in Kerala alone, as shared by Praveer Sinha, the CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power.

This milestone coincides with the recent launch of the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, a scheme aimed at delivering clean energy solutions to every household in India.

During a press event in Kochi, Sinha highlighted Kerala’s vital role in this accomplishment, pointing out that one-third of the installations are located in this state.

“We aim to replicate the Kerala model in other regions as well,” Sinha stated, emphasizing the potential for broader adoption based on Kerala’s success.

In his visit to Kochi, Sinha also inaugurated Tata Power’s “GharGhar Solar” initiative. This program aims to increase awareness and adoption of rooftop solar solutions.

Kochi is the third city to see the rollout of this initiative, following successful launches in Jodhpur and Varanasi.

The “GharGhar Solar” initiative offers substantial financial incentives to homeowners and plans to extend its reach across all states and union territories.

Sinha expressed the company’s ambition to secure a 20-25% market share of the one crore rooftop solar installations targeted by the PM Surya Ghar Yojana.

Tata Power is set to aggressively promote rooftop solar adoption through its extensive network of over 500 channel partners.

The company has set an ambitious goal to expand this network to 5,000 partners nationwide, thereby enhancing the reach and impact of its solar initiatives.

A notable development in Kerala is the commissioning of a 101.6 MWp floating solar power project in the backwaters of Kayamkulam by Tata Power.

Floating solar projects are particularly advantageous as they conserve land, reduce water evaporation, and improve solar panel efficiency due to the cooling effect of water. Sinha mentioned that Tata Power has already installed an 88 MW floating solar plant in Madhya Pradesh and is exploring similar opportunities in other states.
