Togo has received an additional 30 billion FCFA in funding from the West African Development Bank (BOAD), this time for its Agricultural Transformation Project (PTA).
Road Development to Boost Economic and Social Exchange
The BOAD has approved the disbursement of 30 billion FCFA to develop and pave the Tchaasémondè – Gandé – Agbang road in the Kara region of Togo. The aim is to open up this northeastern region to facilitate economic, cultural, and social exchanges both nationally and regionally, particularly by easing traffic flow with neighboring Benin.
Job Creation and Improved Road Safety
According to projections, this project is expected to create approximately 4,200 direct and indirect jobs, contributing to unemployment reduction. Authorities also anticipate an 80% decrease in accidents on this road, significantly improving road safety.
TogoFirst notes that the BOAD allocated a total of 162 billion FCFA during its 142nd Board of Directors meeting as new financing to support the economies of the WAEMU zone.
