Uniper, a major player in the European energy sector, has announced a strategic partnership with WAP Energia to develop onshore wind farms in Poland.
This collaboration encompasses six distinct projects in western Poland, targeting a total capacity of 600 MW. These projects align with Uniper’s ambitious goal of having ten gigawatts of renewable energy projects ready for construction by 2030.
Strategic Development in a Key Market
Poland represents a key market for Uniper due to its rapid growth potential in the renewable energy sector. By working closely with local partners like WAP Energia, Uniper secures a leading position in developing wind and solar projects. This initiative allows Uniper to significantly increase its installed renewable energy capacity, in line with its energy transition goals.
Investments and Ambitious Targets
Uniper plans to invest approximately 8 billion euros between 2023 and 2030 to support growth and green transformation. A substantial portion of this investment is dedicated to renewable energy, particularly solar and wind projects. By 2030, Uniper aims to have over 80% of its production capacity be CO2-free, reflecting its commitment to sustainable and reliable energy production.
Uniper’s strategy also includes developing ten gigawatts of onshore wind farms and solar photovoltaic farms in key European markets. In addition to Poland, these projects are underway in Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Sweden, and Hungary. The goal is to bring three gigawatts of these projects to investment maturity by 2026.
Impact on the Energy Market
This strategic expansion strengthens Uniper’s position in the European renewable energy market. The partnership with WAP Energia not only diversifies Uniper’s energy portfolio but also solidifies its presence in Poland, a strategic market for the company. These projects also contribute to achieving European energy goals by increasing the share of renewable energy in the energy mix.
Uniper’s Continued Focus on Energy Solutions
Uniper remains focused on developing flexible and secure energy solutions that meet the ever-evolving needs of the market. Investments in renewable energy, such as the onshore wind projects in Poland, are crucial for maintaining the company’s competitiveness and supporting the energy transition on a European scale.
