Vestas Wins OranjeWind Contract: Supplying 795 MW Offshore Wind Farm in Netherlands

Vestas, a leading wind energy solutions provider, has been awarded a substantial contract for the OranjeWind offshore wind project (previously known as Hollandse Kust West VII), situated off the coast of the Netherlands.

The agreement entails Vestas supplying 53 of its cutting-edge V236-15.0 MW wind turbines. Vestas will also oversee the delivery and commissioning of these turbines.

Following the project’s completion, Vestas will continue its involvement through a five-year comprehensive service agreement, after which a longer-term operational support agreement will be in place.

Nils de Baar, President of Vestas Northern and Central Europe, expressed enthusiasm for the project: “OranjeWind presents a significant challenge in terms of technological innovation and sustainability, and we are thrilled to provide our solutions, including our flagship offshore wind turbine, for this endeavor in the Netherlands.

Our entire team eagerly anticipates collaborating with the OranjeWind project team on this remarkable and ambitious wind farm in the North Sea.”

In the week of July 22nd, RWE and TotalEnergies announced a 50/50 partnership aimed at realizing the OranjeWind offshore wind project.

The project boasts an impressive installed capacity of 795 MW, with a grid connection capacity of 760 MW.

An additional 35 MW of excess capacity has been incorporated to maximize the efficiency of the grid connection, even during periods of lower wind energy production.

The OranjeWind project is strategically positioned approximately 53 kilometers off the Dutch coast in the North Sea. Installation of the wind turbines is anticipated to commence in 2027.
