Vestas, a global leader in sustainable energy solutions, announced on June 28th that it has secured a significant 144 MW order from African Clean Energy Developments (ACED).
This order is for the Umsinde Emoyeni wind farm, a project set to be located in the Western Cape region of South Africa.
Project Scope and Technology
The contract encompasses the supply and installation of 32 V163-4.5 MW wind turbines, representing Vestas’ cutting-edge technology. Additionally, Vestas will provide a comprehensive 10-year service agreement to ensure optimal performance and energy production for the wind farm.
Strong Partnership and Shared History
Sam Cook, ACED’s Project Director for Procurement and Construction, emphasized the longstanding relationship between ACED, African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), and Vestas. This partnership dates back to the early days of South Africa’s wind energy industry in 2011.
Cook expressed enthusiasm for placing another order with Vestas, highlighting the project’s benefits for their client Sibanye Stillwater, shareholders, and the local communities surrounding the wind farm.
