Vestas Secures Major Wind Turbine Order for Quebec’s Clean Energy Future

Vestas has been awarded a substantial contract to supply 347 MW of wind turbines to the Pohénégamook – Picard – Saint-Antonin – Wolastokuk (PPAW) wind project in Quebec, Canada.

The order comprises 56 of Vestas’ state-of-the-art EnVentus V162-6.2 MW turbines.

The contract encompasses a full suite of services, including the supply, delivery, and commissioning of the turbines, in addition to a multi-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement. This comprehensive service package is aimed at ensuring the wind farm operates at peak efficiency throughout its lifespan.

Vestas’ EnVentus turbines are renowned for their adaptability, offering a diverse range of hub heights and operational modes. These can be tailored further with a multitude of technology options, enabling the creation of bespoke solutions to perfectly match the unique demands of each individual project.

“This is a landmark agreement for Canada, and we are delighted to join forces with Invenergy as they continue to grow their North American wind energy portfolio,” said Laura Beane, President of Vestas North America.

“This partnership, aligned with Quebec’s ambitious net zero targets, underscores our shared commitment to a sustainable energy future, and we are proud to contribute our leading EnVentus platform to help achieve those goals.”

“Together with our partner, Alliance de l’Énergie de l’Est, Invenergy is excited to collaborate with Vestas to commence the groundwork for the future PPAW Wind Energy Center,” added Louis Robert, Vice President, Renewable Development at Invenergy.

“We anticipate further strengthening our existing relationship with Vestas, to support Quebec’s energy transition.”

The delivery and commissioning of the turbines are scheduled to take place in 2025. This project represents a significant step forward in the expansion of renewable energy infrastructure in Canada and contributes to the country’s ongoing efforts to decarbonize its power grid.
